About Us
This firm acts in all areas of law. We specialise in
commercial advising. This includes advice to companies and their executives. We would
value the opportunity to act for you in any matter where your firm requires legal
assistance.
Peter Evans founded Peter Evans &
Associates in 1986. He decided to establish his own firm after a long and successful
association as a partner in what was, at the time of his leaving, the largest firm in
Newcastle. The firm has grown steadily since1986, currently retaining the services of two
other lawyers and six support staff. The firm is located in its own building in the heart
of the Newcastle City Centre at 6 Bolton Street.
Our Services
Realism: in many ways law firms are the
same. They have access to precedent documents. They can call upon specialist barristers.
They can follow instructions. How this firm differs:
- We will discuss with you ways of saving
legal fees. For example a dispute can be mediated, a claim arbitrated - rather than
recourse to the courts.
- Each of our three solicitors are able to
field an inquiry when another is absent. We will never say "that is not my
file". If we cannot answer your question straight away then we will get back
to you.
- We attempt to solve problems rather then
extenuate them. The solicitors of this firm meet weekly to review special files.
- Our negotiating ability. We will not
hide behind a letter. The principal of this firm has a broad government, commercial,
community and media experience. If your case warrants a high level face to face meeting
then we will readily do that to get the best result for you.
- We are genuinely experienced in
commercial litigation and where a particular matter calls for specialist attention we are
able to easily call upon the services of a barrister.
Our Undertaking
Confidentiality
You would want a guarantee that all of
your communications with us are confidential. We give this guarantee to all of our clients
as it is an ethical obligation, but more than this, only solicitors (as distinct from
accountants and journalists) can refrain from giving evidence as to their clients in a
court of law.
Conflict of interest
The same strictness of the duty of
confidentiality applies to the duty of a solicitor not to have a conflict of interest. A
court can prevent a solicitor from conducting a matter where the court perceives that
the solicitor has a conflict of interest. Because we are a small firm and fully
computerised we are able to assure you that any potential conflict of interest is advised
to you prior to accepting instructions to act.

companies, banks, building societies, church institutions, large and small business
